Emily Osmond (LaPlante) lived a reclusive lifestyle on a small acreage on the Northern edge of Kawacatoose First Nation. She seldom had contact with her family or friends; the last known contact she had with them was on August 29, 2007.
The last sighting of Emily was on September 13, 2007, by her hired helper. According to a CBC article about her disappearance, the last sighting of Emily was on on Sept. 9, 2007, by a man who helped her chop wood.
Emily’s vehicle and personal belongings - including medication - were left at her residence. She also had dogs at her acreage that she cared for, which had been left unattended. She was 78 years old at the time of her disappearance.
Her disappearance is considered very unusual. Extensive searches were conducted in a 25-kilometre radius around her property, but no sign of Emily has ever been found.
Emily walks with a cane and had spent many years in the Yukon; she moved there in the 1960s and left sometime in the 1970s. Her family is hoping that someone who remembers her from that time will come forward.
She would now be 91 years old.
