Tersilla “Cecil” Catterina BONTHAUX

Missing since October 25, 1954

Missing from Titanic District, Saskatchewan

DOB: August 22, 1875

On October 25, 1954, 79-year-old Tersilla Bonthoux was last seen walking from Duck Lake toward the farm homestead where she used to reside, approximately 13 km away. After she was reported missing, extensive searches of the area were conducted. No trace of Tersilla was ever found.

Tersilla Bonthoux was last seen wearing a black coat. She is described as 5’0” tall and 99 lbs. She also used the names Cecile and Cecille.

According to one source, there had been a rumour that Tersilla was buried in a cellar on a particular piece of property close to where she used to walk.

In 2009, investigators and Saskatoon archaeologist Dr. Ernie Walker used ground-penetrating radar in a farm field where the suspected cellar used to be. No sign of Tersilla was found.

In a 2009 article, RCMP Staff Sgt. Fran Stevenson spoke about the search for Tersilla. "They didn't find her, but at least it satisfies the family, that 55 years later, the police will still look for her and eliminate that misinformation.”

Tersilla’s disappearance is still an open and active investigation with the Saskatchewan Association of Chiefs of Police.
